Scientific Name: Hoplostethus atlanticus.
Also known as: Hiuchidai (Japan), Granatbrasch (Germany).
Characteristics: Pearly white flesh, medium texture. Holds together well on cooking. Coarse flakes, delicate shellfish flavour. Suitable for most cooking methods.
Description: Orange body and fins; deep body, massive head with conspicuous bony ridges and cavities. The average size is 30-40cm and average weight is 1.5kg.
Main Season: Caught all year round. Low season March-May and highest catch August-October.
