Characteristics: |
Greenshell™ Mussels are unique to New Zealand, and have a distinctive ‘green lip’ around the internal margin of the shell. Mantle tissue of mature males is creamy white colour, females orange – apricot. |
Description: |
The average size for an 18 month old farmed mussels 100 mm; can grow to over 230 mm. Primarily sold as frozen half-shell. |
Main Season: |
Generally available all year round but harvests reduce from September to November when the Mussels spawn. |
