Red Cod

Scientific Name: Pseudophycis bachus.
Also known as: Akadara (Japan), Bacalao de Nueva Zelanda (Spain).
Characteristics: Moist, white flesh, delicate texture and low fat content. Flakes easily.
Description: Greyish red-brown above, becoming white with a pink flush below. Average length 40 – 70 cm, and the average weight is 1.5 – 2.5 kg.
Main Season: All year round, but main catch February to June.
